How to Write a Vacation Rental Listing That Actually Gets Booked
Two listings for similar properties can get very different results. Usually, the difference isn't the property — it's how it's presented.
Photos come first
- Shoot in daylight, curtains open, lights on. Natural light reads as honest and inviting.
- Show the whole space, not just the best angle of one room — renters want to picture themselves there.
- Lead with your best photo. It's the first thing anyone sees, on the listing and in search results.
Title and description
- Be specific in the title: "2-bed apartment, 5 min walk to the beach" beats "Lovely holiday home."
- Answer the questions renters actually ask: how many can sleep, is there parking, how far to the centre, is it quiet.
- Skip the superlatives. "Stunning," "amazing," and "unbeatable" say nothing — specific details do the convincing.
Keep it current
Listings with recent photos and an accurate calendar get more inquiries than ones left untouched for a season. A five-minute update before peak season is worth more than it costs. Edit your listing on Vacayo any time, at no cost.
